White House Hens?

Backyard Chickens
in the Backyard of the White House?
posted by Sharon Gaughan, PCLF Education Program Director

This message was on the "Chicago Chicken Enthusiasts" group listserve yesterday. I thought that this might be of interest to some of our blog followers...

Please consider taking some time to sign the following petition requesting that the First Family add hens to their garden -- https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/backyard-hens-white-house/lJ7Ss51M.

They already have a huge garden and a beehive, so why not hens? Many of us out in the burbs are fighting a losing (for now) battle for the right to own hens. People are downright terrified of what *might* (but never will) happen if hens are allowed and perhaps if the First Family had a flock it would normalize the practice a little more when people consider it all around the country.

Spread the word!
